NM EPSCoR Funding Opportunities Overview

Workshop Awards (up to $7,500)
Workshop Award support is aimed at convening working groups that emphasize collaborative development and advancement of important ideas and theories, cutting-edge analysis of recent or existing data and information, industry engagement in research, industry/academic partnerships for workforce development, or the use of science in policy or management decisions. Workshop Awards are not intended to fund the collection of new data.
Best Consideration Dates: April 16 & November 16, annually
SURE Awards (up to $16,500)
The Supporting Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) Award program aims to increase student and faculty access to meaningful research experiences by providing small scale awards to individual faculty. Funding can be used for student researchers, acquisition of research supplies, student conference travel, and summer salary/course buyout. Preference will be given to faculty from New Mexico’s primarily undergraduate institutions, including two-year colleges, four-year comprehensive institutions, and branch campuses. Spring/Fall Deadlines: April 25 & October 31
Anticipated Start Dates: June 1, 2025 & January 1, 2026
Seed Awards (up to $50,000)
Seed Awards fund the purchase of research equipment, support for student researchers, acquisition of research supplies, and student conference travel. Program goals are to 1) foster initiatives that enhance research capacity (including cyberinfrastructure), productivity, and external funding competitiveness, and 2) increase student access to meaningful research experiences across the state.
Statement of Interest Deadline: May 1, 2025
Full Proposal Deadline: July 1, 2025 (Full proposals are by invitation only)
Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2025
NM EPSCoR Mentor Awards
This award recognizes mentors in STEM research and education who demonstrate excellence in supporting students’ academic, research, and career endeavors, and in creating supportive environments for all students. Eligible nominees are faculty, staff, or postdocs in a STEM field at a New Mexico institution.
