Dr. Trilce Estrada, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at UNM and a faculty member of the NM SMART Grid Center Decision Support research team, has been selected as one of the New Mexico Technology Council's 2022 Women in Tech.

Every year since 2009, NMTC has honored technology professionals with this award which "recognizes outstanding women in New Mexico's STEM fields for their industry and community contributions."  This year, honorees were chosen from a pool of 27 professionals and selected based on four criteria: Professional Impact, Volunteerism, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurialism.

"We are very fortunate to have Professor Estrada on the NM SMART Grid Center team and are thrilled that she has been named one of NMTC's 2022 Women in Tech," said NM EPSCoR Director Ganesh Balakrishnan. "Her expertise in distributed systems, Big Data, and machine learning have been invaluable to the success of the center."

Dr. Estrada earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems at Universidad de Guadalajara, a master’s degree in Computer Science at the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica, and her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Delaware before joining the UNM Computer Science Department in 2013, and the NM SMART Grid Center in 2018.

Dr. Estrada received the award Thursday, April 21, at a banquet in downtown Albuquerque.
